Logistics & Welcome
An official welcome to the 13th annual Harvester Island Writers’ Workshop! I am very excited about each one of you being there. It’s really going to be an incredible group.
Here are some important updates, details, and instructions:
TRAVEL: ARRIVAL
You’ll fly to Anchorage, AK and then on to Kodiak. Alaska Airlines is the only one that flies to Kodiak & is an excellent airline. They bring a jet to Kodiak 2- 3 times a day.
Plan to arrive in Kodiak no later than 3 pm, Saturday, August 30th. (There is a flight that arrives at 3pm)
We’ll fly out to the island a few hours later, chartering three private bush planes. (This cost is already included in your payment.) It’s a gorgeous flight straight across Kodiak Island so you’ll see untouched wilderness the whole way. Sneak peek below.
Another consideration. If you have the extra day and budget, the best thing to do is to fly into Kodiak the day before, Friday, to get acclimated & have some time to rest before flying out to Harvester. There are many hotels and AirB&B’s here.
TRAVEL: DEPARTURE
For booking your return flight home, we’ll be back in Kodiak by 1pm on Saturday, Sept. 6 so you can fly out of Kodiak that afternoon. (If you have any extra time or budget, you should consider staying in Kodiak for a few days on either end. There are a number of nice B+B’s here. There’s much to see and do on this island!)
